Prayer focus for the week of November 10-16, 2012
I pray for the newly elected leaders of Waterford, and all the leaders of the county, the state and the country. For all of their staff and advisors as well. I pray for wisdom and truth. That they seek God's wisdom and truth. That their hearts turn towards the Lord. That they work to build the kingdom of God and not a kingdom for themselves. I pray they are touched by the Spirit of God, drawn to Him and that their eyes are opened, their ears unblocked and their hearts unveiled so they may clearly see the Way, the Truth and the Life and that they follow Him in every decision they make.
We have a new Township Supervisor now, Gary Wall, and he has said that the first item on his agenda is the police and fire department. I pray he clearly see God's solution in this area. We desperately need to pray for our police department. There has been a downward spiral going on for a while now. They haven't been able to get a police millage passed in quite a long time. Some of this may be because of economic reasons but some of this might be because the relationship between the police department and the residents hasn't been as good as it could be. The police now have to serve and protect the very ones that have voted against giving them the resources they need to do their job well. This could very well leave a bitter taste in their mouth and this is not the first time this has happened. We need to pray that the residents recognize this and become able and willing to support the department, and that the department resolve to do their best with what they have and not become, (or remain), bitter against the people. Jesus had to die for the very ones that were crucifying Him and this is the position our police officers are in now. In addition to our prayers, any way we can show them our support would help to re-build this relationship and do away with an "us vs them" attitude on both sides.
