Final Post for Pray for Waterford Michigan

This is the final post for the ten year prayer assignment I was given to pray for Waterford, Michigan. It began May 23 2011 and ends today, May 31, 2021. Of course, I will not stop praying for my home town, but the time period for this particular assignment has been completed. I will leave this blog up for as long as possible. You may also visit the website here. There are some articles there which expand on this assignment in more detail.

Find the article page here PFWM Article Page. In particular the article Ten Year Tenure and Why Pray?

The sidebar on this page gives the timeline of what the focus of our prayers were. It was somewhat of a three year cycle with November 2019 through October 2020 being a timeout of sorts to focus on the proclamation of the entire Word of God over the United States of America. Information and a table of contents for that task is found here.

Without elaborating on the political climate as I end this assignment, its enough to say that America needs prayer, but yet it comes down to each community, each home, and each individual doing their part to obey God and complete the call He has placed on their life. I pray we all encourage each other in this, pray for each other, and grow closer to the Lord above all.

Let me end with a Scripture from 1 Kings 9:1-5. David had passed on and Solomon his son was king. David had provided the materials for the beautiful temple and Solomon had just finished building it and prayed a prayer of dedication over it. Here we read the Lord's response:

1 Now it came about when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all that Solomon desired to do,
2 that the Lord appeared to Solomon a second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon.
3 The Lord said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built by putting My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.
4 "As for you, if you will walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you and will keep My statutes and My ordinances,
5 then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, just as I promised to your father David, saying, 'You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.'

The key to keeping the presence of the Lord among us is to walk in His ways, sincerely from the heart. Of course this was before the Lord Jesus came and we can read about the fall of Israel into captivity. Yet God did not forsake us and made a way for all to come into His favor through faith in Jesus Christ who died to pay the price for our sin. Seek Him. Believe. Answer the call. We read of what happened after Jesus rose from the dead, just before He ascended into heaven:

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

"Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come Lord Jesus.
