April 27, 2013 - Spring Prayer & Clean up

Prayer focus for April 27-May 3, 2013
This week's church prayer is for:
First General Baptist of Waterford
2933 Frembes Rd.

Out with the old & dead and in with the new & living!

Clean up is a slow process. It doesn’t always go as quick as we want, but we are always making progress as long as we don’t give up.  Sometimes we have to get dirty, sometimes we might get tired, sometimes we might get injured if we don’t take proper precautions.  But as we persevere the dead stuff gets removed making way for the soil to be prepared.

We can clean out the old stuff but if the soil remains hard then no seeds can be planted, no new life will grow.  But once the soil is softened then seed can be planted and new life will grow!  New life that becomes fruitful!  It’s all worth it to bring the new life and fresh growth.  We just have to keep from becoming discouraged, thinking that our efforts, our prayers, our hard work and perseverance is not worth it.

We also need to remember that it’s not about outward appearance—things just looking like they’re cleaned up when deep inside there is no life.  It’s about real life, eternal life, sincere change, growth and fruit.

It may be slow and we may need to take one battle at a time, but it’s not done in our own strength anyway.  We are strong in Him and in the power of His might.  Our own persistence in prayer and dedication to following the Lord, although necessary, won’t accomplish anything without God making it all happen.

Be encouraged and know that every prayer, every act of obedience to the Lord, every time you choose Him over the easy way and wide gate, He sees and smiles on you, and you are making a difference!

Ephesians 6:10; Matthew 13
